How do people experience cat and dog emotional understanding?

Many people report instances when they felt their companion animal understood what they were feeling or experiencing and helped or supported in some way. This study aims to generate understanding of these experiences, how they are described, how they make people feel and how we contextualise what our dogs and cats understand about us.
